Link Workers are specialist outreach workers based at some Children’s Centres where it has been determined that there is the greatest need. When parents request it, Link Workers can make home visits to offer advice and support. They will link the parents and children to appropriate services and in some cases support their attendance.
Any department of the Council or partner agency can offer a family a referral to a link worker. The only criteria is that they have at least one child under 5 and live in the Wigan borough.
