At the Summit Centre the staff attempt to engage young people who have been removed from mainstream education by offering a friendly but flexible approach. Young people are offered a reduced academic curriculum comprising English, Mathematics, Science, ICT, PHSE, Art and Food Technology. These subjects can be studied to GCSE or Entry Level Certificate depending on the young persons ability and commitment.
Whilst attending the Summit Centre, young people are encouraged to respect themselves and others and gain personal skills to allow them to achieve the five outcomes of Every Child Matters.
In addition to this, all young people attending the Summit Centre are offered either two or three days a week at the ACE Centre (Alternative and Complementary Education). Here they have access to programs of work placements or work related training.
