The Development Team offers a specialist support service to schools, pupil support units, young people and their families who are experiencing difficulties relating to disaffection from school.
The Development Team is a team of qualified social workers and youth workers with many years experience of working with young people and families.
The Team fulfils two areas of responsibility:
- Preventative Provision - The provision of individual, groupwork and parent support to young people experiencing difficulties in school, who are referred through the Behaviour Support Team, Schools or colleagues within one of the Pupil Support Centres. The work undertaken may focus on a number of areas of personal development, including anger management, family and peer relationships, social and life skills and summer holiday activities. Pupils will attend the ACE Centre half a day a week over a ten week period. Regular liaison with school and parents / carers will complement the direct work undertaken with each young person referred.
- Key Stage 4 (Year 10 / 11) Alternative Packages of Education - To plan, implement, support, monitor, review and evaluate out of school learning opportunities accessed by Key Stage 4 students who are on the roll of one our Pupil Support Centres, a local school or the Alternative Provisio roll (for Key Stage 4 students who have been withdrawn from school to prevent permanent exclusion or further disaffection). Leaning opportunities can include personal and social development, extended work experience, vocational training workshops and small group teaching of Maths, English and ICT functional skills. All learning opportunities lead to qualifications within the Foundation Learning Tier.
