This is Wigan Council’s (Comprehensive) Equal Opportunity Policy. This document sets out the council’s equality and diversity vision, values and equal opportunity statements. The policy covers both employees and service users. This policy is linked to the Corporate Equality and Diversity Strategy. Both documents will be subject to periodic updates when necessary.

This document is Wigan Council’s Corporate Equality and Diversity Strategy. The Strategy is the companion document to the (Comprehensive) Equal Opportunity Policy. The strategy states how the council will deliver the vision and values stated in the (Comprehensive) Equal Opportunity Policy. The strategy includes an action plan from 2004-2008.

This document is Wigan Council’s Equality Scheme. The Council has taken the position of producing a single Equalities Scheme in line with the government’s position in creating a single Equality Commission. This Equality Scheme encompasses and highlights all our legal requirements and sets out our policies, procedures, aims and the actions we will take to achieve them.
