Our Local Area Agreement (External Link) (LAA)

Local Area Agreements (LAAs) set out the priorities for a local area, which are agreed between central governement and the local authority , Local Strategic Partnership and other key partners at the local level. By following the link you will find more detail about our LAA, including quarterly updates on our performance.

Corporate Strategy 2009 - 2012

Our Corporate Strategy is a three-year rolling strategy, driven by the Community Strategy priorities for Wigan, and achieved  through the plans in each of our departments. Delivery against our strategy is reviewed quarterly and the strategy itself is reviewed at least annually to ensure it retains relevance. This is the chance to bring together in one place our thinking on the challenges and opportunities that we need to approach in the next 12 months and beyond.

Departmental Plans

Each department has produced a three-year rolling plan, which aligns with the Corporate Strategy and includes a delivery plan that is reviewe dannually. These plans set out how the department contributes to the Council's vision, the objectives for the department and their key tasks and performance indicators.

National Indicator Set (NI's)

The National Indicator Set consists of almost 200 indicators, which were announced by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) in October 2007. Central governement utilise these indicators to assess how local authorities are performing. They replaced all other existing sets of indicators, including Best Value Performance Indicators (BVPIs), from 1st April 2008.

Comprehensive Area Assessment(CAA)

CAA is a new way of assessing local public services in England. It examines how well council are working together with other public bodies to meet the needs of the people they serve. Assessments will be made publically available every year and will provide an annual snapshot of quality of life in the area. The first results will appear on a new OnePlace website which will be launched on Wednesday 9th Decemeber 2009. Click here to be directed to the OnePlace website(external link).
