Design of Mayoral Christmas Cards

Primary and Secondary School involvement. 3 designs, 3 prizes donated by ASDA Distribution

Entries returned by 22 September.  Suggested donation of 50p per child to enter.  Rainbow theme. Members of Charity Committee were the Judging Panel on 23 September 2008. Raised £108.50 to date.  Sale of Christmas cards 50p.

26 September 2008. Meal. Casino. Tickets priced at £29.50.  Amount raised £1,100. Featured in Lancashire magazine.

24 October 2008.  Gift aid trial.Over £1000 donated from those who entered addresses on the envelopes.  £1511.91 to date.

Quiz Night, Town Hall, Wigan Carol Halton JP.  1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes.  Trophy to be presented.  Ideas welcome.  prizes required.  Posters required.  Bar open until midnight 14 November 2008.  7.30 pm for 8.00 prompt start. Teams of 4.  Price £5 per person.  Committee members to try to form teams.  Young people invited. Amount raised £401.11.

Colouring Competition. Santa. 

Councillor Mark Aldred.  Auction for Santa to visit one household on Christmas Eve – lowest unique bid.  Suggested colouring competion in The Galleries, prize visit from Santa, Christmas Eve.Possibility of Mayoral car.  Suggested Santa's grotto in Grand Arcade, Market Hall, Wigan Infirmary and Leigh.  Beeches visits.  Hospital visits.  Grand Arcade.

23 November 2008.  1.00pm-3.00 pm.  At least 8 local teams from Wigan are participating the the tournament and all proceeds raised will go to the Mayor's charity.  Trophies will be available.  Request for support.
Charity Fundraising meal, Raj Restaurant, Springfield Garages, Woodhouse Lane, Wigan WN6 7LW Sadrul Alam.  Bucket collection.  Envelopes on the tables.  Publicity. 25 November 2008, set menu £15.95 per person, sittings at 6.45 pm and 8.45 pm.  All proceeds raised will go to the Mayor's Charity.  Request for support.

9 December 2008.  7.00-9.00 pm. Traditional 'lessons and carols' service.  'Old Hall Brass' playing during the service and children from two local schools singing.  Press release.

All Members. Bucket Collectors required and usually they will get free tickets to watch the game. Mayoral Santa attending. Wyn and Terry Banks.
