The best way to contact your MP is to write to him or her at the House of Commons. All MPs have Westminster offices and will make arrangements for their mail to be dealt with or redirected when they are away from London, so it is better to write to them there.

The Borough is divided into four constituencies. These are detailed as follows:
- Leigh (made up of following Wigan Council wards: Atherleigh, Golborne and Lowton West, Hindley, Hindley Green, Leigh East, Leigh South, Leigh West and Lowton West).
- Makerfield (Abram, Ashton, Bryn, Ince, Worsley Mesnes, Winstanley and Orrell wards)
- Wigan (Aspull-New Springs-Whelley, Douglas, Pemberton, Shevington with Lower Ground, Standish with Langtree, Wigan Central and Wigan West wards)
- Worsley (Astley-Mosley Common, Atherton and Tyldesley wards. The rest of the constituency includes wards from Salford)

The Borough is also included in the North West European Parliamentary electoral region which returns members to the Parliament in Brussels/Strasbourg. Members of the European Parliament are elected in the European Elections and serve for up to five years.
