Council Tax Benefit is changing
The Government is currently legislating to abolish the national Council Tax Benefit scheme for working age households. From April 2013 we must have in place our own Local Council Tax Support Scheme.
The Government is cutting the money it will give us to fund our new scheme. We will be required to make some tough decisions on how to distribute the reduced funding available and support those on low incomes to pay their Council Tax bills.
Tell us what you think of our proposed scheme
We need your views on how we should use this reduced funding to best provide Council Tax support for low income, working age households in the borough.
You do not have to be of working age or receiving Council Tax Benefit to take part in the survey. We want the views of all of our residents.
We will use the feedback from our survey to help us make the final decision about how to provide support for Council Tax for 2013/2014. We will publish this feedback online after the survey has closed.
Please read our Council Tax Support Consultation Booklet (.pdf, 131kb) to find out about our proposed scheme.
Tell us your views on how we should provide support for Council Tax by filling in our online survey.
The survey closing date is 31 October 2012.
