THE power of the Olympics is coming to Wigan. A borough sports programme has been granted the official 2012 seal of approval and more than 1200 youngsters have already got involved.

Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust’s ‘What’s Your Game’ Calendar has been granted the Inspire Mark – the badge of the London 2012 Inspire Programme.

The London 2012 Inspire programme recognises innovative and exceptional projects that are directly inspired by the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The ‘What’s Your Game’ project focuses on a different sport each month, using different events to inspire and enthuse young people to compete in the sports.

The sports project is the third in the North West and the first in Greater Manchester to be given the prestigious award.

Seb Coe, London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Chair, said: “The ‘What’s Your Game’ Calendar is encouraging young people to fulfil their potential. I am proud that with the help of partners such as Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust we are delivering our vision to use the power of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games to boost participation in Wigan Borough.”
