Now Astley VIP Amateur Boxing Club is teaming up with three local high schools, the council and the police to give children the chance to train at the club free for one week.
New Starter sessions are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-7pm and Fred Longworth, St Mary’s and Hesketh Fletcher high schools are all involved.
Head coach Damian Jones said: “I’d like to invite any young people from Astley or surrounding areas who are bored and looking for a new challenge to call in and give it a go.
“We’ve only been open less than a year but the club has gone from strength to strength. We’re giving young people something to do.”
