Well here’s your chance to prove it!
We’re inviting Borough Life readers to enter our fantastic Christmas card competition and win pride of place on hundreds of mantelpieces across the borough and beyond.
Not only will you have the chance to see your seasonal image or design featured on this year’s council Christmas card – which will be sent out by the mayor, council leader and others – you could win £100 of high street shopping vouchers into the bargain.
The cards will also be on sale locally and all proceeds will go to the mayor’s charity, which this year is raising money to support local dementia sufferers.
So while the last days of summer might be lingering on, we’re asking readers to fast forward to winter and come up with ideas for a card that will really capture the imagination of local people.
The design should have a seasonal theme – Wigan borough in winter – and it could be a photo, a drawing, a painting or a computer design. There will be separate categories for children, young people and adults, with one winning design from each age group being chosen.
The mayor Cllr Mark Aldred runs an annual charity Santa appeal delivering presents to local children – and the mayoress has promised to invite the winners to meet the man in red at the town hall.
The mayor said: “We want a card that will present a good image of our borough. Everyone has their own idea what a Wigan Christmas is all about. For children it could be about Santa and presents, for adults it might be a winter scene.”
The closing date is October 5th. See right for details of how to enter. If after reading this you’re still not sure about the entry requirements, please ring 01942 828145 or email Borough Life
