PLAYHAY! More than a quarter of play areas in Wigan borough are set to be transformed over the next two years following a £2m funding windfall.

In April the borough began its Play Pathfinder Programme, to refurbish 28 play areas and build one brand new adventure playground.

Wigan’s Play Partnership has secured the government cash to pay for the transformation.

The first play area to be developed is Legh Street in Golborne and the choice of equipment for the space has involved children, young people and the local community.

Phillip Blackwell, Play Pathfinder Project Manager for Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust said: “We’re going to be asking what young people like, what their experiences have been and what they want to see in their play areas. Each area that is developed will be unique.”

The new equipment is only part of the grander vision for play areas across the borough. For further information email Play Finders or call Phillip on 01942 487633
