They say you should never work with children and animals – but no one told Steven Lewis-Neill!
Holy Family Catholic Primary in Platt Bridge, which was recently rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted, is the latest school to receive a visit from Steven’s Wild Workshops.
A qualified teacher, Steven uses mice, snails, woodlice and other small creatures to teach young children about animal and insect behaviour, which he demonstrates using a hand held microscope projected onto a screen.
Steven said: “It’s my dream to get children involved in practical science inspired by animals. I teach the science curriculum through practical workshops involving a variety of British wildlife.”
Headteacher Denise Marsh said: “It makes the curriculum come alive.
“The children loved it and they will always remember it.”
Schools (or nurseries, libraries, scout and guide groups) can book a visit by ringing 01925 220197, sending an email to info@wildworkshops.co.uk or online at Wild Workshops (external link)
