It will soon be time to take the plunge at the borough’s new home of sporting excellence. Leigh Indoor Sports Centre will be throwing open its doors for free between 9am and 5pm on Saturday June 21 for a special family fun day.
There will be a chance to see the top-rated Profiles Health and Fitness Suite in action, several fitness masterclasses in the aerobics studio, badminton and table tennis in the sports hall and free swimming for everyone between 1.30 and 3.30pm.
The £6.4m sports centre, part of Leigh Sports Village, ushers in a new era for sport and physical activity in the town. The facilities include a 25m six-lane pool suitable for regional galas, sports hall for badminton, basketball, netball and volleyball and a health and fitness suite with 65 work stations, weight resistance and cardiovascular equipment.
Andrew Watmough is part of the team running the new centre and he says: “Our customers are delighted with what’s on offer but we want to spread the word and get everyone down here for the fun day.
“If you like what you see there will be a chance to come again because we’ll be handing out vouchers on the day for visitors to try a range of other activities.”
