User and Carer Involvement in Care Services

If you are a carer who looks after a relative, friend or neighbour who needs support because of their age, a physical disability, a physical illness, mental illness, substance misuse problem or limiting illness. Click on the link below find out about carer services and support in the borough and how you can get involved.

People who work in the young carers team provide support to children and young people caring for a relative, through support groups and befriending. They also visit schools and colleges to talk to pupils and teachers about the needs of young carers.

The Linc Online

As a young person, it might sometimes feel that you're not listened to or that your views aren't ever taken into consideration, but the truth is that there are loads of ways you can get out there and make your voice count.

Pact 

The Wigan and Leigh Community Safety Partnership is made up of representatives from different council departments and external agencies from the public, private and voluntary sectors which work together to promote safer, stronger, sustainable communities. We have piloted a community engagement approach called Partners and Communities Together (PACT for short) as a way of identifying and responding to the issues that matter to local communities. We are currently in the process of rolling out PACT across the Borough. More information will be made available when PACT is rolled out in your local area.

CVS

Wigan and Leigh Council for Voluntary Services is a registered charity working with voluntary and community groups within the Wigan Borough. Follow the link to find out about some of our projects and groups in the borough and advice on starting a group and funding opportunities.

Tenant Participation Team

Wigan and Leigh Housing are committed to customer involvement and have a specialised team of Tenant Participation Officers to help promote opportunities for engagement with our customers and encourage involvement. We believe in giving our customers a choice and a voice, we have a number of involvement opportunities in place to do just that.

Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust

Wigan Leisure & Culture was formed in 2003, it is a chartible Trust working on behalf of Wigan Council to manage and support Leisure and Cultural services for the residents of the borough. The range of services includes parks and countryside, greenspace and bereavement services, Haigh Hall, play, libraries, heritage, the arts, sport and healthy living. Details of services and activities are available on the Trust internet site.
