What is the Discussion Panel?
Over 100 of you as Wigan Borough residents have signed up to become members of our Discussion Panel. There is a good mix in the group of people from different parts of the borough, ages, backgrounds and genders.
The Panel will be used to get local residents feedback and views on any topic that the Council may be dealing with in all departments across the Council.
Panel members will be able to help with:
- letting the department know what the best way of giving out information is.
- giving advice on changing the way a team or department works in relation to public services.
- giving feedback on services and advice on how they can be improved or changed to suit target audiences
In the early stages of planning and making changes, public opinion can be invaluable and a great help to getting it right first time, so your input as a discussion panel member will help to ensure that the Council gets things right first time.
How will the Discussion Panel be used?
When planning changes or new ways of delivering services it can be very difficult to know exactly what people want and need from the service. The discussion panel allows the Council to consult with their customers before any changes are implemented. As a Discussion Panel member you can help to:
- test out new ideas
- plan services
- understand how services are perceived
- evaluate policies
