26.2 To hear a grievance appeal by an employee in the Environmental Services Department: The Head of People’s Services, Alison McKenzie-Folan informed the Committee that an employee from the Environmental Services Department had submitted a grievance appeal. Management had submitted written and oral evidence to support their case. The appellant and his representative submitted written and oral evidence to support their case.
During the appeal, management called two witnesses.
The Chairman adjourned the meeting to deliberate and reach a decision.
Resolved: The Committee supports management’s actions and the appeal is dismissed.

25 Land at Brocstedes Road Ashton – application for lease of land: Resolved: The Committee agreed to defer this application for the purpose of a site visit.
26 Application for a licence to drive private hire vehicles: The Committee considered a report of the Executive Director of Environmental Services, Martin Kimber, which advised Members of an application for a licence to drive private hire vehicles.
The applicant attended the meeting and answered questions.
Resolved: Resolved: The Committee grants the licence.
27 Application for a licence to drive private hire vehicles: The Committee considered a report of the Executive Director of Environmental Services, which advised Members of an application for a licence to drive private hire vehicles.
The application was brought before the Committee minute 17 refers where it was decided that the matter should be deferred for a period of no longer than 12 weeks to allow the applicant to consult an Ophthalmic Surgeon and obtain a statement from the surgeon to ascertain whether or not he could meet the Council’s medical standards regarding his eyesight.
The applicant attended the meeting and answered questions.
Resolved: The Committee agreed to defer this application to allow the applicant to trial a contact lens fitting and undertake an eyetest to ensure that he meets the Council’s medical standards regarding eyesight.
