13.2 To hear a grievance appeal by an employee in the Environmental Services Department: The Head of People’s Services, Alison McKenzie-Folan, informed the Committee that an employee from the Environmental Services Department had submitted a grievance appeal. Management had submitted written and oral evidence to support their case. The appellant and his representative had submitted written and oral evidence to support their case.
During the appeal, management called two witnesses.
The Chairman adjourned the meeting to deliberate and reach a decision.
Resolved: The Committee supports the decision of Management and the appeal is dismissed.

14.2 Private Hire Vehicle Licence - suspension: The Sub Committee considered a report which advised Members of a suspension of a private hire vehicle licence.
The applicant did not attend the meeting.
Resolved: The licence is revoked on the grounds that the vehicle is not fit to be licensed as a private hire vehicle as provided for in Section 60(1)(a) of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976. Furthermore, if any further application is made to licence the vehicle as a private hire or hackney carriage, that application should be brought before the Committee.
Following the hearing, it was discovered that between the date of the vehicle failing its test and the matter being placed before the Regulation Sub Committee, the licence had expired.

17 Application for the grant of a licence to drive private hire vehicles TBO40251: The Committee considered a report of the Executive Director of Environmental Services, which advised Members of an application for a licence to drive private hire vehicles. The driver failed to meet the required standard of group 2 medical fitness for persons holding a licence to drive hackney carriages and private hire vehicles.
Resolved: The Committee defers making a decision for twelve weeks to allow the applicant to obtain a specialist medical assessment to support his application.
