1 Apologies for absence: Apologies were received from Councillors P A Tushingham and P Prescott.

2 Minutes: The minutes of the meeting of this Panel held on 19 March 2009 were approved as a correct record.

3 Exclusion of the public - section 100a Local Government Act 1972: Resolved: The public is excluded from the meeting when the Panel discusses the following item for the reasons set out below:-

4 Pay and Reward update: The Executive Director of Business Support Services, David Smith, reported on progress to date with the Pay and Reward scheme and on the outcome of the consultation with the Trades Unions and staff. The report set out the changes to the proposed terms and conditions which had been made as a result of the consultation.

Members asked questions on the report to which the Executive Director of Business Support Services responded.

Members asked that all Members of the Council be supplied with relevant information at the same time as the staff to enable them to deal with any queries they may receive.

Members also expressed their disappointment that some members of the Panel appeared not to have attended what was a very important meeting without having given their apologies beforehand

Agreed: The Panel notes report and accepts the action taken by Officers in this area.

(Councillor J B Baldwin declared a personal and non prejudicial interest in this item because of his wife’s employment at the Council.).
