22 Minutes: The Minutes of the meeting of this Panel held on 24 July 2007 were approved as a correct record.
23 Assistive technology: The Panel considered a report and received a presentation from the Director of Adult Services informing Members of progress on the assistive technology pilot schemes funded by the preventative technology grant. The assistive technology service helps people to live independently at home by providing reassurance and peace of mind. The grant is used to purchase equipment which may increase the range of activities, independence or well-being of vulnerable people. A practical demonstration was given, together with the opportunity for Members to examine several items of equipment supplied to service users.
The Panel asked questions to which the Director of Adult Services responded.
Agreed: The Panel notes the report now submitted and thanks the Director of Adult Services for the presentation.
24 Adult Services – quarterly performance update: quarter 1 2007/08: The Panel considered a report informing Members of the first quarter performance against performance indicators and service plan tasks during 2007/08. The service plan described the work programme for the Adult Services Department as the means of delivering on its local and national priorities.
The Panel asked questions to which the Director of Adult Services responded.
Agreed: The Panel accepts the report now submitted.

25 Supporting people inspection 2007: The Panel considered a report, which had been submitted to Cabinet (minute 143 refers), on the outcome of the Audit Commission’s inspection of the supporting people programme which was undertaken during May 2007. The outcome of the inspection rated the supporting people programme as a ‘good (2 star) programme with promising prospects for improvement’.
The Panel asked questions to which the Director of Adult Services responded.
Agreed: The Panel concurs with the decision of the Cabinet.

26 Commission for Social Care Inspectorate – older people’s inspection: The Cabinet Champion reported that all Members of the Panel were invited to attend Cabinet on Thursday 4 October 2007 as Mr P Green, from the Commission for Social Care Inspectorate, will present feedback on the Older People’s Inspection.
