15. Environmental Services interim service plan: The Panel considered a report that advised Members of the Environmental Services Department’s interim service planning arrangements for 2007/08, which included actual performance from 2006/07.

16. Transport innovation fund – implications for Wigan : The Panel considered a report which had been considered by Cabinet (Minute 72 refers), that advised Members of the implications for Wigan Council associated with the Greater Manchester bid for Government’s transport innovation fund (TIF) resources.
The Panel asked questions to which the Director of Environmental Services responded.
Agreed: The Panel endorses the recommendations as set out within the report now submitted.
17. Deprived area fund: The Panel considered a report which had been considered by Cabinet (Minute 74 refers), on deprived area fund (DAF) resources. These resources were to be administered by the Council through the local strategic partnership (LSP) structures and linked to the local area agreement (LAA) economic development and enterprise block. The fund was intended to reduce worklessness in geographic areas of low employment.
The Panel asked questions to which the Director of Environmental Services responded.

18. Economic development update: The Panel considered a report that informed Members of the current progress in the Wigan economy and of any major investment decisions

19. The Alliance for Regional Aid and Coalfields Communities Campaign: The Panel considered a report that informed Members of the recent merger between the Alliance for Regional Aid (AFRA) and the Coalfields Communities Campaign (CCC) into a new organisation called the Alliance.

20. Wigan Economic Partnership minutes: The Panel considered the minutes of the meeting of the Wigan Economic Partnership held on 8 May and 28 June 2007.
