Council - Wednesday 14 May 2008 (Annual Meeting)

The Annual Meeting of the Council of the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan is to be held in the Council Chamber in the Town Hall, Library Street, Wigan on Wednesday, 14 May 2008 at 2.30 p.m., for the following purposes, that is to say:

1 To elect the Mayor for the ensuing Municipal Year.

2 Vote of thanks to retiring Mayor.

3 To elect the Deputy Mayor for the ensuing Municipal Year.

4 To receive apologies for absence.

5 To receive any announcements from the Mayor, Executive Leader, Members of the Executive or the Head of Paid Service that they may desire to lay before the Council.

6 To report the names of the Councillors elected on 1 May 2008 and welcome to new Members (.pdf, 93Kb) (reports enclosed).

8 To elect the Executive Leader.

9 To receive from the Executive Leader, a list of the names, addresses and Wards of the Members appointed by him to the Cabinet and the Membership of Cabinet Committees (.pdf, 33Kb) (report enclosed).

17 Casual vacancy: The Chief Executive to report that following the death of Councillor Michael Baines, there is a casual vacancy for the Wigan West ward.
