A joint meeting of the Cabinet and the Overview and Scrutiny Committee will be held in one of the Committee Rooms at the Town Hall, Library Street, Wigan at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, 13 December 2007.
You will recall that the consultation time available to the Committee in respect of Council House Rents is greatly reduced. The necessary decisions have to be taken by Council on 9 January 2008 because of the need to serve notice on tenants but the information about Government funding necessary to inform the Cabinet’s proposals is not available until late in the day.
Following previous practice and in order to enable the Committee to have an opportunity to consider and comment upon the proposals, the Cabinet and the Committee are being convened on the same day so that the Committee’s comments can be made to the Cabinet and incorporated into the Cabinet’s report to Council.
