Under age sales volunteering

Volunteers aged 12 – 15 years are needed to help trading standards officers enforce the law about under age sales of alcohol, cigarettes and fireworks to children.

Volunteers must be representative of their age (there should be no possibility that they could be thought to be over 16 years old for tobacco, or 18 years old for alcohol and fireworks) and freely willing to participate with the permission of their parent/guardian(s).

Rigorous measures are taken to ensure the safety and well-being of volunteers at all times.

If you have a child of this age who would like more information on becoming a volunteer, see our guidance notes for parents/guardians (.pdf, 119KB) whose children assist the service in enforcing the legislation.
