Share your interests and make new friends!

Community Connecting is a service provided by Wigan Council, in partnership with Wigan Learning Disability Partnership Board (external link). The aim of the service is to enable people with learning disabilities to lead full and purposeful lives in their communities and to develop a range of friendships, activities and relationships.

The service helps people with learning disabilities to:

  • connect with individuals and local organisations in their community;
  • find voluntary and/or paid work;
  • take part in educational opportunities.

Our volunteers do much more than just befriending our service users.  They share their interests, hobbies and skills, and provide valuable support when needed.  No experience is necessary to become a volunteer, as training and on-going support is available.

Call us now for further information, and to hear how Community Connecting has changed the lives of people who use the service.
