Leigh Township Awards Criteria 2008

Criteria

  1. All candidates / winners of awards must act in the interest of Leigh
  2. The winners must meet criteria 1. and in addition the specific criteria below

Specific criteria for each of the above awards

A

  • Be active in the community setting within the Leigh area ( as defined by the Leigh Borough on the 1st January 1974)
  • Be unpaid for the work they do in the community

B

  • The business must be in the Leigh area (see above)

C

  • The person must be 18 years or under
  • The person must live in the Leigh area (see above)
  • Show particular interest in the community and get involved in the wider community

D

  • The Group must be based in Leigh area (see above)
  • Be working for Leigh residents.
  • Be established for at least 12 months
  • Show examples of work completed to support their area or the wider area of Leigh.

E

  • This should be a person who attends Township meetings / sub-groups of the Township regularly and shows dedication and commitment to the Township ethos

F

  • Someone who acts in a considerate way towards their neighbour or neighbours
  • Must live in the Leigh area (see above)

G

  • This is an accolade given to someone who has given a considerable amount of time and effort to the wider community of Leigh.
  • A minimum of 5 years dedicated service with examples of diverse commitment would be looked for when awarding this award.

General

  • The deadline for nominations will be set by the Town Centre Management sub-group dealing with the award ceremony
  • Nominations will only be accepted when they are received on or before the closing date for nominations
  • Nominations must received by 5 p.m. on the deadline date
  • People will not win an award within 4 years of a previous award for the same category
  • If a candidate does not meet the criteria at the time of the deadline date but has met 10/12th of the previous time period, then the judges may use their discretion and include the nomination.
  • Discretion may be used by the panel if a specific case warrants it this must be a unanimous decision.
  • Membership of the Judging Panel will be members of the Township Forum
  • If the forum so wishes it may co-opt independent members on to the group.
  • There shall be no more than 7 members on the panel
  • There shall be no less than 3 members present to make a decision.
  • The panel’s decision is final.

Please note the designated deadline for 2008 is  5 p.m. on 24th October 2008
