The Leigh French Circle

Would you like to know more about France and improve your French at the same time?

The Leigh French Circle has been going strong for over ten years now. At its monthly meetings you can meet people of all ages fascinated by France, its people and its customs, practicing their French in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.

Through activities ranging from French cuisine and cheese and wine evenings, to discussions, films and slide shows, the delights of this country will be unveiled to you.

All the meetings are held in Leigh College at 7.00 pm. A fee of £3.50 per session is payable to cover the wine and the cakes and hire the room.

If you are interested, please contact the ambassadress from Angers in Wigan or visit the Twinning News page for the date of the next meeting.

The Children's French Club

Whether you are a child (or a parent) or an adult, you can benefit from the French Club.

You are a child (or a parent): The French Club is a short and enjoyable French lesson that takes place at lunchtime or after school for between 30 and 45 minutes in a very relaxed and fun atmosphere.

The lessons take place in primary schools, nurseries or community halls across the whole borough. If you are interested in your child learning a little bit of French, don't hesitate - contact the teachers on 0161 703 8821 or speak to your child's teacher.

You are an adult and you speak French well: The French Club needs your help in teaching French to children in Astley, Tyldesley, Leigh, Lowton, Golborne, Ashton-in-Makerfield, Atherton, Hindley and Aspull.

Applicants should have lively, confident personalities with a good French accent and, if a French national, a good level in English.

For more information about the conditions, please contact Anne Sherratt, Area Organiser, on 0161 703 8821.

Angers Twinning Association

This association was set up with the aim of providing local people with information about the area of Anjou and the twin-town of Angers.

If you wish to be kept up to date with twinning activities, the Twinning Association is an opportunity not to be missed. You will have the chance to learn more about the people, language and way of life in the region as well as to take part in many interesting and entertaining activities.

Angers Twinning Association meetings take place at 7.30 pm and alternate between Leigh Town Hall and Wigan Town Hall. For details of the next meeting of the group, why not visit the Twinning News page or get in touch with one of the following:
