The Leigh French Circle

Would you like to improve, or simply practice your French?

Well, join the Leigh French Circle and you will be able to do both while learning a bit more about France and its culture.

For more than 10 years, the Leigh French Circle has been going strong thanks to its members’ passion for France. Indeed, the Leigh French Circle meets once a month to discuss and practice their French. At these monthly meetings, you will be able to discuss with true Francophiles of all ages. Usually, a presentation or an activity about a France-related topic is made by a guest speaker.

There is ONE and only ONE rule:

ENGLISH IS FORBIDDEN...

You have to speak only French.

So how would you like to learn about France, its people, its culture and its customs through activities ranging from French films to wine evenings, and discussions, slide shows etc? All the meetings take place at Leigh Sports Village - the new Sixth Form College at 7.00pm. You will be requested to pay a £4.50 fee per session to cover the wine and nibbles (and room hire).

For further information on meeting dates, please visit the Twinning News web page or contact the Ambassador from Angers in Wigan - contact details below.

Whether you are a child or an adult, you can benefit from the French Club.

If you are a child (or parents):  The French Club is a short and enjoyable French lesson that takes place at lunchtime, after school or on Saturdays for between 30 and 60 minutes in a very relaxed and fun atmosphere.  The lessons take place in primary schools, nurseries or community halls across the whole borough. If you are interested in your child learning some French in a Fun way, don't hesitate - contact the teachers on 0161 703 8821 or 01257 251358 or speak to your child's teacher.

If you are an adult and you want to improve your French: Adult classes are available. These are small groups that take place in a relaxed atmosphere and concentrate on the spoken language.

If you are an adult and you speak French well: The French Club needs your help in teaching French to children in Astley, Tyldesley, Leigh, Lowton, Golborne, Ashton-in-Makerfield, Atherton, Hindley, Aspull, Wigan Centre, Standish, Shevington, Appley Bridge, Orrell, Winstanley and Goose Green.  Applicants should have lively, confident personalities with a good French accent and, if a French national, a good level in English. Angers Twinning Association

The ATA (Angers Twinning Association) was created in order to provide local people with information about the Anjou region, and especially Wigan’s twin town: Angers.

If you wish to be involved or regularly informed about the twinning activities and what’s going on in Angers, feel free to join the Angers Twinning Association. You will have the opportunity to learn more about the “Angevins” (people from Angers), the language and the way of life of the Anjou region. This will also allow you to take part in many France and Angers-related activities. So come and find out about your counterparts and future friends in Angers.

The ATA members meet once a month: each of these meetings starts at 7.00pm and alternate between Wigan Town Hall and Leigh Town Hall. If you would like more information and details about this association, please visit the Twinning News web page or contact one of the following:
