Cultural Partnership

The Cultural Partnership has produced a manifesto with the medium/long-term in focus: a document that captures what makes Wigan unique in a cultural sense: what defines 'Wiganicity'  in iconic terms; and what continues to make the Borough special to those that live, work and spend leisure time here.

The Cultural Partnership is one of the 7 Thematic Partnerships of the Local Strategic Partnership.  The Partnership is made up of representatives from public, private, community and voluntary organisations with strategic interests in the development of leisure and cultural activity across the borough.

The Cultural Partnership was responsible for 'Northern Soul - Wigan's Cultural Strategy' and the Cultural Manifesto builds on that foundation.  The Cultural Manifesto was compiled from the outcomes of a series of workshops with local people and organisations in lat 2005/early 2006.  Alongside the Manifesto a short DVD has been produced illustrating the importance of leisure and culture to the life of the Borough.
