We need to manage natural resources prudently, to improve waste management, to reduce pollution, to protect and nurture plant and animal life and to improve the man-made environment.
At present
Wigan Borough is over 75% open green space, but we still suffer from the usual problems facing urban areas - air pollution, waste, litter, derelict land.
In 2003 Wigan Borough residents produced over 166,000 tonnes of household waste for disposal.
