The Local Pension Service

The Local Pension Service is for people aged 60 and over. It provides face to face contact for vulnerable customers of the Pension Disability and Carers Service through home visits and Information Points in community locations.

The team aims to raise older people's awareness of what is available to them, increase the take up of entitlements, and join up a wide range of services by working in partnership with the local authority and voluntary organisations.

Information points / Benefit surgeries are held twice weekly as follows:

Age Concern, 68 Market Street, Wigan, every Monday 9.30am to 1pm. Call 01942 241972 for appointment.

Age Concern, 96 Bradshawgate, Leigh,  every Friday 9.30am to 1pm. Call 01942 607337 for appointment.

Advisers can:

  • Assist with completion of benefit application forms
  • Deal with queries about existing benefits
  • Verify documents
  • Signpost to other services as required
