Health and Wellbeing Project

A project aiming to improve the quality of life for older people in  the borough.

The Health and Wellbeing Project, co-ordinated by Wigan and Leigh Housing and funded by Supporting People, is a service for anyone over 55 living in the Wigan Borough.

The project aims to promote independent living, help people gain a better quality of life and subsequently achieve a feeling of well-being. By working in close partnership with local community groups, agencies and services, the Health and Wellbeing Co-ordinators can provide you with advice and information on activities and events available to them in your local community.

The service offers:

  • a choice of organised social and physical activities and events which are aimed at increasing enjoyment while also providing learning opportunities
  • benefits advice and information about staying safe and keeping healthy from other professional agencies and advice services
  • the opportunity to “Get Involved” and made a difference to your community
  • home visits (limited number of clients per area) to discuss your personal support needs which will help us to put you in touch with agencies and services who can help you
