Deaths must be registered within 5 days of a death, by one of the following:
- a relative of the deceased
- someone present at the time of death
- a person arranging the funeral (not the undertaker)
In certain circumstances, another person can register a death, please contact us for further information.
Before you attend, please telephone 01942 705000 to arrange an appointment.
The following information about the deceased will be required:
- full name
- date and place of birth
- maiden name, if applicable
- if the deceased was married the full name and occupation of the spouse
- home address
If the deceased's doctor or hospital has issued you with a medical certificate stating the cause of death, you will need to bring this with you.
If the deceased has had a post mortem, you should contact us (on the above telephone number) to check that we have received the paperwork from the coroner.
