Naming Ceremony

A Naming Ceremony is a special way of celebrating your child's birth and welcoming the new arrival into the family. It is also an opportunity to declare, before family and friends, your promise to be as good a parent/guardian as you can. And for friends or relatives, chosen by you, to promise to support the child in its life.

The celebrant who will conduct the ceremony will arrange an appointment with you to discuss your requirements. From this meeting an individually designed ceremony will be produced for you to approve before the day itself. In short the ceremony consists of the following elements:

  • Introduction and welcome
  • Meaning of a name
  • Naming of the child
  • Parents promises
  • Supporters promises
  • Grandparents promises
  • Closing words

The ceremony can be further personalised by the inclusion of readings, poetry and music. At the end of the ceremony a certificate signed by the parents, supporters and celebrant along with a souvenir copy of the ceremony itself is given to the parents.

Any parent or legal guardian can arrange the ceremony.
