Crime and Community

The crime and community team's work includes the objectives; to disrupt traders operating in the 'informal economy'; to prevent harm to children and nuisance caused by illegal sales of restricted products and to prevent people becoming victims of commercial crime in their own homes.

Our work on these objectives includes:

under age sales of alcohol, tobacco, fireworks and other products;
doorstep crime;
frustrating the market for stolen goods, via second hand shops, vehicle dismantlers, car boot sales, classified advertising; and
counterfeiting, and linkages between counterfeiting activity and other serious crime
