CACS advisors are legally trained and will usually be able to give an immediate answer to a problem. In more complex cases or where a consumer reports a potential criminal offence, they will pass the details to Trading Standards for further help and investigation.
We rely on the thousands of consumers who make complaints about traders or their products and services to us via CACS each year. The valuable information this gives us enables us to target our advice and other enforcement activities at the traders who are trading unfairly or unlawfully.
We aim to ensure that the service is run with efficiency and care. We set ourselves targets for dealing with service requests and these are monitored regularly.
