Leigh is easily accessible for all parts of the region. And if you're travelling through the region via canal boat then Leigh is a great stopping point being situated on the junction of the Leeds to Liverpool and Bridgewater canals.

The town centre has a large and popular market plus a wide variety of multiple and independent retailers. The Spinning Gate Shopping Centre has over 30 units on one level and offers a family friendly atmosphere.
The bus station, market and a Shopmobility scheme are all located centrally in the town close to shops and very affordable car parking facilities.

Close to Leigh town centre is the Leigh Sports Village Complex. This is a pioneering multisector development, which brings the local community together through the provision of a range of sports, recreation and educational facilities. It is the home of the Leigh Centurions Rugby Legaue Club and Leigh Garriers Athletics Club, its centre piece is the 11,000 capacity Leigh Sports Village Stadium.
