Financial assistance is available for local organisations from a variety of sources and for a variety of purposes. The Information & Development Team can provide assistance to those voluntary and community organisations that have a focus on worklessness, enterprise or skills development.
Not-for-profit Essentials
If you are involved with a local voluntary or community group that is seeking financial assistance such as a grant, you must first ensure that the group has a set of rules/constitution and appropriate bank account in place. This is the minimum requirement before funding can be obtained, with other policies including Health & Safety, Child Protection (if the group is involved with children) and Liability Insurance. Wigan & Leigh Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) (external link) offer assistance with these issues. You can contact CVS on 01942 514234.
Why not find out what funding might be available to your organisation by visiting our Interactive Funding Database.
Small grants are available from Wigan Council and other local agencies. These are identified in the Small Grants in Wigan Booklet. If your project is on a larger scale, there are Officers on hand to assist you with expert advice on all aspects of project development including consultation, form filling, developing business plans, financial aspects and much more. More details of this support can be found in the Small Grants Booklet.
