Introduction:
It has long been reported that second hand smoke causes damage to health. In light of this evidence and legislation we support, implement and maintain a smoke free policy for our business so that none of our customers or staff will be at risk from the inhalation of tobacco smoke whilst on the premises.
Purpose:
- To improve health and protect staff and customers from second hand smoke
- To improve awareness of the risks associated with second hand smoke
- To provide support and encouragement to those who wish to stop smoking
- To comply with the Health Act 2006 Chapter28 Part 1 Chapter 1
Aims of the Policy:
This policy aims to comply with relevant legislation, protect staff and customers and to promote a healthier environment for all.
Statement:
We are a smoke free business. All the building(s) will be smoke free from....................................................................... The smoking of tobacco or any other products will therefore not be permitted on the business premises; anyone breaching the policy will face disciplinary action.
Assistance for those who smoke:
We recognise that smoking is an addictive habit. We will therefore be supportive of anyone who wishes to give up smoking. Help is available on 0500 7867 669.
All Employees:
Will be made aware of the policy and will be expected to comply with it.
Monitoring:
The policy will be monitored to ensure that it is running effectively. Any problems or breaches of the policy should be brought to the attention of management.
The policy applies even when the business is closed.
