Public Register |
There is a public register available for inspection upon request. Please contact the Business Compliance Section using the details below. |
|
Eligibility Criteria |
Notifiable devices consist of cooling towers and evaporative condensers, except where they contain water that is not exposed to the air and the water and electricity supply are not connected.
If a cooling tower becomes redundant or dismantled, this should also be notified. |
|
Application Process |
Notification must be in writing (including by electronic means) on a form approved by the Health & Safety Executive. There is no fee payable.
The local authority will confirm receipt of your registration.
The notifications assist us to identify potential areas that could give rise to spread of infectious disease e.g. legionella and to ensure preventative measures are taken to eliminate the risk of such infection arising to employees and the public. |

Target Completion |
We would normally expect to let you know our decision on your application within 10 working days from receipt. |
|
Will Tacit Consent Apply? |
Yes. This means that you will be able to act as though your application is granted if you have not heard from us by the end of the target completion period.
If you have not heard from the Business Compliance Section you can contact us using the contact details below or online if you applied through the UK Welcomes service . |

Consumer Complaint |
We would always advise that in the event of a complaint the first contact is made with the trader by you - preferably in the form a letter (with proof of delivery). If that has not worked, if you are located in the UK, Citizen's Advice Consumer Service (External Link) will give you advice. From outside the UK contact the UK European Consumer Centre (External Link). |
