Food Hygiene Training

The proprietors of food businesses must ensure that all food handlers (including themselves) are adequately supervised, instructed and/or trained depending on their work activities.

All food handlers must have minimum food hygiene knowledge and implement and demonstrate this in their workplace.

CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering Course

Wigan Council is an accredited provider of food hygiene training. The Level 2 Award in Food Safety Catering course is designed to develop food handlers understanding in basic food hygiene principles. Topics the course covers includes:

  • Personal Hygiene and Health
  • Temperature Control
  • Cross Contamination
  • Food Storage
  • Food Poisoning
  • Physical Contamination
  • Pests

The course is aimed for anyone working in manufacturing, catering or retail where food is prepared or handled. The course consists of 2 afternoon sessions and a multiple choice assessment. Attendees successfully passing the assessment will be awarded a nationally recognised basic food hygiene certificate.
