PM1
This is the average time it takes to process a new claim from first receiving a form until the date we actually make a payment.
PM5
This is the average time it takes to process a change in the persons change in circumstances from first receiving details of the change until the date we actually make the amendment to the claim.
PM10
We are set a target to identify a certain number of changes in circumstances. This is done either by a home visit or postal check.
PM16
At Wigan Council we have an investigation section who deal with any fraud allegations that may come into the department, either by the public or through our work with the Dept. of Work and Pensions. Sanctions are the end results of some of our investigations and include Court Prosecutions, administration penalties and cautions.
What are we doing to improve our performance?
We are continually striving to meet and improve on our targets. In 2007/08 we failed to meet the target for the number of days taken to process a new claim by 3 days. We have reviewed our working practices and are constantly looking at ways to speed up processing times and accuracy.
