The Investors in People award is a national standard which recognises that an organisation has good practices for improving the organisation's performance through it's people.
A holder of the award has demonstrated to an independent assessor that the organisation recognises the value of its personnel in developing services and that it has a commitment to, and a clear plan for, the continuing development of the people that it employs.
Charter Mark is an award made by the Government for quality in the delivery of services to customers. The organisation applying for the award is evaluated by an independent assessor who focuses on the service actually received by customers.
The award is a major part of the Government's drive to improve the delivery of public services and demonstrates that the holder has achieved a high quality of service delivery.
RNID Louder than Words Charter
To enable organisations to be certain that their provision for deaf and hard of hearing people is of the highest quality, the RNID has developed a clearly defined set of Quality Standards to form the basis of the RNID Louder than Words Charter.
We have demonstrated that we meet the Quality Standards and have been awarded the Charter. We can now display the symbol in our premises and on printed material.
Team of the Year
In 2003, Wigan Council’s Team of the Year award was launched. The first awards ceremony took place in January 2004 and our Benefits Section not only won the Customer Satisfaction category but also scooped the overall Team of the Year prize for the whole Council. Since then, we have reached the finals of every annual awards ceremony, winning a further first place, two thirds and a “highly commended” runners-up award under the new categorisations for 2008.
