Landlords newsletters

Our latest Newsletter includes important information about the changes to LHA::

Direct payments to Landlords

From April we can now pay a landlord direct when this will help the tenant to secure or keep their tenancy. However, the rent should be made affordable for the customer. For more information on this go to our direct payment to landlord page.

Safeguards Policy

Click below to view our policy on dealing with direct payment issues. This document explains the issues and sets out broadly how we intend to deal with them.

Safeguards Application

Click below to view the Safeguards Application and our Evidence and Who Can Help You? documents. The Safeguards Application is for the tenant or tenant's representative (which could be the landlord) to fill in if they believe they will have problems paying their rent for any reason covered by the Safeguards Policy. Evidence will need to be provided to support their application as payments will only be made to the landlord if there is good cause.

The Evidence document outlines examples of what can be provided as proof to back up what they have put in the application. The Who Can Help You? document signposts for the tenant where they can go to get help should they need it. Both these documents are referred to in their application.

Safeguards Rent Arrears

Click below to view our Safeguards Rent Arrears form. This is a short form intended for you to fill in where your tenant goes into 8 weeks arrears or more, or perhaps the arrears are less than 8 weeks but you believe for some reason the situation is unlikely to improve. It collates information about the rent and the arrears and provides for you to document any reasons why direct payment ought be made to you if arrears are below 8 weeks.
