The Disability Living Allowance is a tax-free benefit for adults and children with a severe disability who need help getting around, help with personal care, or both.

If you are aged 65 or over and need help with personal care because of illness or a disability, you could be entitled to Attendance Allowance.

Department of Adult Services Occupational therapists can provide advice about how to perform household tasks more easily, recommend special equipment, advise on adaptations or alterations to your home and, if necessary, support you go go on to move into more suitable accommodation.
Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive (External link) Disabled bus passes are provided by GMPTE. Application forms are available from bus depots, GMPTE and Adult Services offices.
Paveways A helpline which provides information and advice about a range of disability related issues.
Starting Point A helpline run by Age Concern. They provide advice and information about local services which can help people to live independently.
Supported Employment Service Can help you to find and retain a job.
Disabled Living Foundation (External link) Provides free, impartial advice about all types of daily living equipment for disabled adults and children, older people, their carers and families.
Living Made Easy (External link) Offers impartial advice and information for older and disabled people, carers and care professionals.  They provide clear, practical advice on daily living equipment.
