The increase in interest rates during 2006 has had some impact on the property market reflected in the lower than anticipated take up. However in Wigan there has also been an issue regarding quality and availability of premises and several schemes will come on stream during 2007. In addition there is a lack of business support within the Borough at present to encourage start up businesses or advise existing companies how to grow and expand.
