On Wednesday 22 August, at Wigan Town Hall between 4pm and 6pm Wigan Council Leader, Lord Peter Smith is hosting a new public meeting to listen to the views of local residents.

In the first event of its type to be held in Wigan, it gives local people the opportunity to meet the council leader, hear council plans and to air their views and opinions on the decisions being made.

At the event, you can tell the Leader what you think of the way the budget cuts are being implemented, tell him your ideas on what should be done, comment on the changing waste collection scheme, share your recent experiences, maybe talk about the recent Ofsted inspection results or simply ask a question about something that is important to you.

There’s no need to book, simply drop-in to the Town Hall anytime between 4pm and 6pm and wait for your chance to talk to the leader.

Cllr Leader Lord Peter Smith commented on the new meeting: "We want to know what is really impacting on the communities of Wigan. This new meeting gives local residents the opportunity to tell us what they think, we hope that it can directly shape and determine how we deliver council services in the future. My aim is that by introducing these new style events it will help to ensure that Wigan Council remains accessible to residents and demonstrate that the opinions of our customers really do count."

He continued: "We are a top performing organisation, with great responsive services tailored to meet changing community needs. I am committed to staying up to date on public opinions. This will help ensure we make best use of public money to deliver effective services that the communities of Wigan want."

If you can’t make it on the day, you can also send in your questions to the Leader by emailing haveyoursay@wigan.gov.uk.
