Bank Holiday Council Services

Friday 1st June 2012 (ref: 134/2012)

Wigan Council is reminding residents that the contact centre, the Wigan Life Centre and local life centres will be closed on the two Bank Holidays, Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th June.

Services operate as normal on Saturday 2nd and resume on Wednesday 6th.

Refuse and recycling services will continue as usual throughout.  Crews are aware of the road closures for a number of residents’ Jubilee street parties.

Two free public Jubilee parties are being held in the borough on Monday 4th.  Leigh Civic Square is hosting a family concert of with involvement from local schools, plus fairground rides and of course the Mayor lighting the Queen’s Jubilee Beacon around 10pm.  Wigan will see the massive HaighFest moved to the town centre.  The Market Place will be filled with thousands from early afternoon as the best local bands perform on the big stage in the heart of town.  Again, the Jubilee Beacon will be lit as the event closes just after 10pm.
