Golborne Fun Day
Poster Power!: Wigan Warriors player Eammon O’Carroll with logo design winner Caitlin Holme.

A ‘fun day’ was had by all at the new Golborne Sure Start Children’s Centre on Friday September 14 when parents and carers were given a warm welcome to the new facility.

Wigan Warriors’ star of the future Eammon O’Carroll, was on hand to present an award to five year-old Caitlin Holme who designed the Children’s Centre logo whilst in Reception Class at Golborne Community Primary School.

Headteacher Paul Ryan was also present to offer his support and the cuddly Bookstart Bear made a surprise guest appearance to the delight of the children.

Children’s Centre Development Worker Sheila Carletti said

“There is a serious message behind all this fun and frivolity, I hope our afternoon of fun will raise community awareness of the centre and give parents and carers an opportunity to find out about the full range of activities and services available to families via Sure Start. Our aim is to ensure every child gets the best possible start in life.”

The day was extremely well attended and comments from families on the day included: “fantastic, brill just what we need, great fun with excellent information provided, really professionally done, lots to do and well organised, lovely centre good luck!”

  • Golborne Children’s Centre is on Talbot Street and opens from 9am until 5pm from Monday to Friday. For more information contact Sheila Carletti (Development Worker) on 01942 777620
