Tyldesley Library will be closed to the public for refurbishment from Tuesday 12th June.
The closure is temporary and is to allow for contractors to complete redecoration and building work.
The library is planned to reopen on Tuesday 5th July although that date is dependent on building work being completed on time.
Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust spent £55,000 (provided by Wigan Council’s maintenance fund) to partly refurbish the facility in 2006. The work being carried out now will cost a further £14,000 as part of continual improvement work scheduled for the library.
Wendy Heaton, Libraries Operations Manager for Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust, said:
“We do apologise for the inconvenience that the closure will cause as we know that the people of Tyldesley have had to cope with other recent closures. However, the work that is being undertaken is vital and will improve the building for customers and make for a much more welcoming environment. We look forward to seeing all our customers when we reopen.”
There will be a mobile library service outside the library between 10am and 3pm during the closure period on Thursday 14th June, Friday 22nd June and Thursday 28th June.
