Bye, bye Brian

Leigh Township Forum bade fond farewell to its Joint Chair, former Leigh East councillor and ex-Mayor of Wigan Brian Jarvis, at its last meeting.

Fellow members paid tribute to Mr Jarvis’s decades of dedication to the town and its people.

Joint chair Pam Stewart said:

“Brian has chaired the forum since its inception and has worked very hard for Leythers on local issues. It’s always difficult saying goodbye to someone you have work so closely with, but we wish him well for the future.”

Brian’s replacement will be former council colleague Charles Rigby, ward councillor for Leigh South. He said:

“The forum has benefited from Brian’s drive, enthusiasm and belief that together we can make Leigh better. The forum has given the people of Leigh an additional voice and opportunities to influence decision makers, something we all value and intend to keep strengthening.”
